HOTEL FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Whether their guests travel for pleasure or business, hoteliers aim to go the extra mile to ensure high-quality accommodation for their guests. Today, it is not possible to consider hotel facilities as extra services. Because guests are generally pickier than ever while deciding where to stay. At this point, offering top quality facilities and services creates a distinction among hotel establishments.

Facilities offered by a hotel are generally shaped around its potential guest profiles. As the needs and expectations of guest groups differ, some facilities can be indispensable for some types of hotels. For example, a high capacity conference hall may be among the most important hotel facilities for a business hotel. On the other hand, spa facilities are more significant than a conference hall for a thermal hotel.

However, there are some basic facilities and services that every hotel should offer to their guests.

1. Conference or meeting facilities: Conference or meeting facilities are large rooms and pieces of equipment that a hotel provides so an organization can have a conference or a meeting there. Groups of business travellers generally prefer hotels with high capacity conference or meeting halls. In a conference hall, you may probably see some services such as video conferencing equipment, projectors, microphones, sound system and on-site technical support.

2. Food and Beverage Facilities: Most of the star-ranked hotels offer multiple food and beverage services in their hotels. They can be a la carte restaurants, indoor restaurants, outdoor restaurants, lounges, coffee shops, room service, poolside barbecue service (grill service), banquet service, open bars, cash bars or outside catering service.

3. Recreation Facilities: Nowadays, travellers search for hotels that offer recreation and sports facilities to their guests. Keeping the needs and demands of the guests in mind, most hotels offer a wide range of recreation facilities and services to the guests so that they can enjoy their stay in the hotels. Recreation facilities are offered by hotels to make sure that if the guests do not want to step outside the hotel, they do not get bored in the hotel premises.

Some popular recreation facilities are indoor swimming pools, outdoor swimming pools, infinity pools, fitness centres, animation programmes, kids playgrounds, spas, saunas, steam baths, massage service, tennis courts and squash courts.

  • In-room facilities: Most travellers like feeling at home while staying in a hotel room. In-room facilities are primarily what makes a guest’s accommodation experience good or bad. Although there are various facilities, some basic in-room facilities are minibars, TVs, toiletries, WI-FI, hairdryer, airconditioners, safe boxes and tea or coffee stations.

1. Other guest services: There are some other crucial services that most guests want to take advantage of during their stay at a hotel. Even if some of them may not be determinant for a traveller to choose a specific hotel, they are still important to ensure that a guest leaves the hotel satisfied. These are room service, wake up service, parking lots, baby-sitting service, pet-sitting service, laundry service, dry cleaning service, car rental service or airport transfers.
